Registration renewal and reinstatement

Paramedics who held a valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license under the former act are as of April 1, 2024, deemed to be registered with the new College of Paramedicine of Prince Edward Island. The first registration renewal will be due on March 31, 2025.

General registration is due for renewal annually by March 31. Renewals open as of February 15.

Completed information required for renewal and renewal fees are due and payable no later than March 15. After that date, a late fee applies.

To start the renewal process, log into the HMS, and make sure to:

  1. Update your contact information
  2. Provide your employment details
  3. Pass the jurisprudence exam (first renewal only).
  4. Complete your active practice hours information to meet the professional currency requirements.
  5. Update the certificate of Professional Liability Insurance if needed.
  6. Complete and sign the legal statement.
  7. Pay the renewal fee (Fee Schedule).

Note: There is no other Continuing Education and Competency (CEC) requirement for the upcoming renewal in 2025 (only the Jurisprudence Exam).

Reinstatement of General Registration

An application for renewal may only be made until March 31. After this date, reinstatement of general registration is required, beginning April 1.

An application for reinstatement is only available for three years following the date of the lapse in registration. A reinstatement fee is required in addition to the registration fee. Please allow a processing time of 2-4 weeks, as Council approval is necessary. 

Please note: Paramedics with expired registration are not eligible to work until reinstatement is granted.

To be considered for reinstatement by the CPPEI Registrar, you must log in to the HMS, and:

  1. Update your contact information and employment details
  2. Complete your active practice hours information to meet the professional currency requirements and provide the Registrar's office with a letter from your employer confirming your practice hours.
  3. Pass the jurisprudence exam.
  4. Update the certificate of Professional Liability Insurance if needed.
  5. Update the Criminal Record Screening (under the Miscellaneous tab in your member profile).
  6. Complete and sign the legal statement.
  7. Pay the reinstatement fee.
  8. Pay the registration fee.
