CPPEI Standards of Practice updated to reflect national regulatory requirements
Revised standards align PEI's regulatory framework with national harmonization efforts
Wednesday, November 4, 2026
The College of Paramedicine PEI has revised its Standards of Practice to reflect the Pan-Canadian Essential Regulatory Requirements (PERRs). The updated standards took effect September 14, 2026.
Developed by the Canadian Organization of Paramedic Regulators (COPR), the PERRs establish a common foundation for regulatory requirements across Canadian jurisdictions. This initiative supports greater consistency in how paramedicine professionals are regulated, while helping ensure that regulatory standards remain focused on public protection and professional accountability.
CPPEI originally adopted its Standards of Practice in 2024. The revised document incorporates the PERRs and reflects the College's ongoing commitment to aligning its regulatory framework with national developments in paramedic regulation.
The updated CPPEI Standards of Practice came into effect on September 14, 2026.
Registrants are encouraged to review the revised document and familiarize themselves with the updated standards, which provide an important framework for professional practice in Prince Edward Island.
